A child must attend classes for a minimum of 80% of the school year. If he/she misses more than 20% of the 180 days, for any reason including illness, the parents must communicate with the teacher and/or school board for permission for the child to continue in attendance. By the parents presenting information establishing the validity of the absences, the teacher and/or board can then determine whether or not further school attendance is warranted. (Three tardies equal one absence.) All missed classwork, whether from excused or unexcused absences, must be made up.
